A blend of two single-vineyard wines: Main Road and Dignity. The vineyard is the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in the Hemel-en-Aarde, planted in 1998 with just 1.5 hectares of vines, now 28 years old. The terroir features granite and clay soils, with 20% Koffieklip, and is situated on the north and west-facing mid-slopes at an elevation of 260m. The vineyard uses clone 163 and is cordon-trained.“We welcome the variations of each vintage into the winery, encouraging authenticity.
The hallmarks of classicly styled wines, regardless of vintage, are elegance, purity of fruit, depth of flavours, minerality, energy, intensity without weight, finesse, and ageability. This is what we strive for.” – Craig Wessels, Winegrower.

Craig and Anne Wessels began planting vines in 1999, and since then, their winery has earned a reputation as one of the valley’s premium producers. Known for its cool climate, the valley offers a unique growing environment, which the Wessels believe is essential to the character of their wines. They are committed to ensuring that their vines fully express the distinctive qualities of this marginal terroir, transferring these traits into the grapes and, ultimately, the wine.
The majority of planting took place between 2019 and 2022, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, complementing the existing vineyards. This represents a significant investment of both time and effort. For the Wessels family, however, it’s all about quality. From planting to maturation and harvesting, every step is carefully managed to ensure only the best grapes reach the cellar. Their dedication to excellence ensures that after years of hard work, the very best wines are bottled, reflecting the true essence of the land.
