Regna Loca range celebrates the relationship between South Africa’s finest wine regions and the cultivars best suited to their unique climates. The Franschhoek Semillon comes from old vines, some nearly a century old, producing a rich yet elegant wine with layers of herbal character and a wonderful sense of place.
A layered and expressive nose, showing aromas of lemon peel, preserved citrus, white stone fruit and delicate notes of dried herbs. The palate is textured and creamy, yet finely balanced by bright natural acidity, bringing precision and freshness to the wine. Subtle savoury undertones and a mineral edge lead to a long, poised finish, highlighting both the wine’s versatility and ageing potential.
The grapes, including the Sémillon Gris component, were 100% whole-bunch pressed before natural settling. Fermentation took place in a combination of amphora and barrels, followed by 10 months maturation.

Regna Loca story
The name “Regna Loca” means “local kingdoms”. The Regna Loca stable of wines form a series of premium expressions that match a particular region to its most celebrated cultivar. As an ensemble, the range showcases the incredible climatic variation to be found within South Africa’s myriad wine-growing regions. Regna Loca is the culmination of the work of generations of dedicated vignerons observing, curating, consulting, and crafting their wines to better embody the joy that arises when a particular cultivar proves potent in unlocking the majesty of regional microclimate.
Semillon story
Every kingdom has a throne. In South Africa’s wildly varied wine climates, each region is ruled by a different cultivar. Regna Loca celebrates this regional sovereignty – borne out of the elemental kinship between grape and ground. When a variety finds its sovereign soil, the result is nothing short of regal. Franschhoek’s Old Vine Semillon vines – some nearly a century old – command quiet reverence. They yield waxen, generous wines, woven with Semillon’s herbal lace – sun-warmed yet tightly stitched. A monarch cloaked in memory and mist.
