Lowerland Die Wonderdraai 2024

R210.00

Vineyards grow close to nature on the banks of the Orange river, near the Northern Cape town of Prieska. Bertie Coetzee is a true farmer with a deep love and understanding of nature. Everything thrives together on this farm, with chickens roaming freely, pigs and sheep feeding on the cover crop between the vines, cattle grazing on the mielie land where natural grass is allowed to grow.  Everything is allowed to live in harmony and produce naturally healthy food for animals and humans. This is true organic farming.

Grapes are transported about 800km to Paarl in the cool of the night, where Lukas Van Loggerenberg expertly guides grapes to bottle.

Chenin Blanc at the core, supported by Colombard and a touch of Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is fresh and inviting, with yellow fruit notes, citrus and a touch of floral aromatics.  The palate brings texture, bright acidity and a subtle savoury edge, finishing fresh and moreish. Balanced. Honest.

This is the kind of wine that works across seasons and dishes, from relaxed lunches to midweek dinners that turn into long conversations. This bottle is in fact a conversation starter by itself, from label design, poems by Bertie on the back label and of course just sheer pleasure with every sip.

Alc: 13.24%.
