Beeslaar Chardonnay 2025

R479.00

Grapes are carefully chosen from shale and granite rich soils, from Robertson, Stellenbosch and as far as Barrydale. All the building blocks are important to select carefully with the end game in mind. Each adds a complexity to achieve the desired outcome.

Bright and fresh immediately with floral and citrus notes, basil stem and fresh ginger followed by white stonefruit fleshing out the palate. All the beautiful flavours quietly builds around the thread of oak that adds shape without ever getting in the way. You feel the work behind it, but you don’t taste the effort.

This is where Abrie Beeslaar is so precise. Nothing pushed too far. Nothing left behind.

The palate stays tight. Clean. There’s weight, but it carries it well. Acidity keeps everything in line, pulling the finish long and steady. You go back for another sip before you’ve even thought about it.

ANALYSIS: Alc 13.5% | RS 2.8 g/l | TA 6.1 g/l | pH 3.45

Description

Abrie Beeslaar is undeniably one of the great winemakers in the Cape’s modern history.  Having received the International Wine and Spirit Competition’s  award for International Winemaker of the Year an astounding three times.

Fate would have it that this Wellington local would forge a lifelong friendship and shared passion with the “King of Pinotage” Beyers Truter.  Something red wine lovers, especially those who appreciate South Africa’s national grape Pinotage, should be grateful for.

Abrie’s career progressed positively.  Well, that’s a slight understatement, as he was offered the task of winemaker at Kanonkop Estate before the age of 30 – a monumental opportunity.

In 2011, his dream of making a truly unique Pinotage from a site-specific vineyard, was realised when he was offered the opportunity to work with grapes from a unique parcel of land in the Simonsberg region outside Stellenbosch. Beeslaar Wines was born.
