The Ahrens Family Wines was established in 2008 by Albert & Heidi Ahrens.

The wines are all handcrafted from the vineyards to bottle at their small winery in the Paarl valley, Western Cape. Ahrens Family Wines produces wine with passion & respect for soil, origin & minimal intervention winemaking practices.

We met with Albert and his family, at Cape Wine 2025, and tasted through his gorgeous site specific wines from Swartland, Voor-Paardeberg, Wellington, Paarl and Stellenbosch. We were delighted by the quality and focus of his entire range of wines. From stoney and mineral old vine Chenin blancs from Paarl, to the astounding Ahrens Black; a Syrah based Swartland red blend, “assisted with Carignan for balance, acidity and complexity”. According to Albert, the Black, (also his first wine under Ahrens Family wines) is a quintessential Swartland Red, exhibiting the style and identity of the greater Swartland region.

Upon tasting the wines, it seemed we had no choice but to invite Albert over to share his wines with us. This is not a tasting you want to miss.
