Named after Vulpes Chama or The Cape Fox. The Cape Fox is only found in Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa.
The grapes are whole bunched pressed, settled overnight with cooling and racked to neutral 228L and 300L French barrels for primary fermentation to start spontaneously. Once malolactic fermentation has completed, barrels are topped and the wines is left to age on the gross lees until December. The best barrels are selected, blended and returned to barrel with Bentonite and SO2, until bottling in January 2025.

De Vos is a Dutch surname meaning “the fox”, and Vulpes is the genus name for fox. Each wine is named after a different species of fox.
The grapes come from two different parcels in the Paardeberg. Jakkalsfontein, Block 17 (planted in 1986), and the Sky Block (roughly 29 years old) from Eikelaan. Both vineyards are bush vines, dryland farmed and planted on granite soils. Jakkalsfontein was picked and processed on the 23rd of January and Sky on the 31st of January.
