The Vineyard Party Someday Baby Grenache 2024

R363.00

2024 looks set to be one of the Cape’s great vintages and our experience in the Swartland shows promise. Winter was cold (cold unit accumulation starting early) and rain was plentiful. In August in started warming up with little rain until the final summer months, with December bringing windy conditions. The result was smaller bunches and grapes, very healthy with amazing pHs, acidities and tannins. January and February had some heat spikes and patchy rain. We picked on the 16th of February, ahead of a forecasted heatwave and heavier rains.

Alc. 12.5% | RS 1.40 g/L | TA 6.00 g/L | pH 3.26

Description

“Grenache noir, like Sémillon, is one of the original heritage grapes, with records showing plantings from 1729. Like Sémillon, it used to be known as a blending component and saw a decline in plantings and popularity, but has experienced a resurgence over the past decade. I studied the vines and vigour of Grenache noir (Garnatxa) in Priorat for my thesis and am so happy to be working with it again.” – Jolette
