“This is a wine with natural purity and elegance. The hotter 2022 vintage bought plenty of fruit expression. It is unbelievably drinkable thanks to Cinsault and Grenache contributing to more than 85% of the blend. Delicate rose petal leads to fresh berry and aromatic fynbos aromas. The palate is loaded with juicy raspberry, wild strawberry and black cherry fruit and an earthy edge of pomegranate and fine black tea. Tinta Barocca completes this traditional Swartland blend by adding flesh and dense structure with gripping tannins, finishing tight and fresh. Cinsault and Grenache are perfect partners and natural yeasts completed a partially whole-bunch co-fermentation. Extractions are light with punch-downs done early during fermentation. Tinta Barocca is vinified separately and blended together into large old foudres allowing the flavours to marry and wine to mature. Bottled after 11 months with only a light filtration and minimum use of sulphites.
