Tim Atkin MW 96: “Firmer and more backward than his other two Pinots, it has flavours of plum and orange zest, a hint of clove spice and the concentration and intensity to age beautifully in bottle. The finish goes on for a minute.”

“2023 was the second consecutive vintage marked by abundance, as far as our Pinot Noirs are concerned. This one is following on the above average yields of 2022 due to above average rainfall in the preceding winter. Roll the clock back to the 2021 vintage and we were experiencing the effects of an enduring drought with yields touching a minuscule 1.5 t/ha or 10.5 hl/ha!
The average maximum temperatures for December, January and February (the three months building up to and during harvest), mark 2023 as one of our coolest years on record. However, the vintage was not without its challenges. We were extremely lucky to have harvested before the substantial summer rains during and beyond the harvest season. It is these types of drastic events that most threaten wine. The severe droughts of previous years, and the subsequent push of growth with heavy rain the following years, were challenges in and of themselves for many.” Says Hannes and Nathalia
