This blend ‘70% Chenin Blanc, 25% Verdelho, 5% Viognier, started it all for Rall Wines back in 2008. It is now already in its 18th vintage, and remains the cornerstone of what Donovan does. No other wine in the portfolio has achieved the level of consistency year on year over the last decade or so, and this 2025 vintage is no different. The grapes are still mainly grown in the ancient granitic soils of the Paardeberg. All components are fermented naturally and matured separately in a combination of 2000L Foudre, seasoned small French oak, concrete eggs and amphora before blending and bottling after 10 months with minimal filtration.

Over the years the wine has changed ever so slightly, becoming more linear with a focus on freshness. The cornerstone Chenin Blanc vineyard from Nuwedam has been the backbone of this wine since 2008 and will remain as long as Donovan has access to the grapes.
