Kaapzicht The 1947 Chenin Blanc 2024

R756.00

Kaapzicht Estate proudly presents the 2024 vintage of The 1947 Chenin Blanc, a wine that captures the essence of South Africa’s old-vine legacy and continues to set the benchmark for premium Chenin.

Planted in 1947 by Danie Steytler Inr’s great-grandfather, this block of dryland bush vines is the second oldest Chenin Blane vineyard in South Africa. Over seven decades later, just 1.1 hectares of this vineyard remain, yielding tiny volumes of intensely concentrated fruit.

Now registered as a Certified Heritage Vineyard, this treasured site produces a wine of rare purity, refinement, and age-worthiness.

“Each year, I feel the weight and privilege of working with these vines,” says Danie Steytler Jnr, fourth-generation winemaker. “This vineyard has shaped our story. My job is to let it speak clearly and with grace.”

Aromatically expressive and texturally profound, the 2024 release opens with delicate notes of citrus peel and orange blossom, layered with hints of untoasted almond, flinty reduction, and finely integrated oak. The palate is saline and textured, showcasing remarkable power and poise. Elegantly balanced with mineral depth, it lingers long and gracefully, revealing the full expression of this

This vintage of The 1947 is beaming with old vine elegance. It is clean and focused with notes of young peach, dry herbs and white flowers.
