Four generations of Steytlers have been custodians of this special site for almost eight decades. The first Steytler purchased Rozendal farm in 1946 on the Bottelary Hills, looking towards Table Mountain in the West. The name only later changed to Kaapzicht. In 1947 one of the first vineyards to be planted was this Chenin Blanc block. Originally much bigger, but today only 1.1ha of this single vineyard remains.
The 1947 is only released in superior vintages and we are excited to share the 2022 with you.
In the cellar 50% is whole-bunch pressed and the other half destemmed and crushed. The juice is settled overnight then racked to 500L barrels for spontaneous fermentation. Aging for another 10 months in barrel before bottling unfiltered and unfined.
Every year the wine shows depth of flavour, complex aromas and refined texture.
