Named after the song “Galvanize” by The Chemical Brothers – an emblematic choice to play in the cellar during harvest to keep the energy up when the days are long.
The grapes were sourced from a 21-year-old, trellised Chardonnay vineyard planted on Summercourt Farm, on the Simonsberg Mountain at 400m altitude.
The grapes were handpicked, hand sorted and gently whole bunch pressed. The juice was settled overnight at 10 degrees. It then went to barrel for natural fermentation in 100% old French oak barrels (225l and 300l) followed by natural malolactic fermentation. As little batonage as possible. 10 months total in oak.

Hogan wines was started in 2014 and is a small, family-run business with Jocelyn Hogan Wilson as winemaker. She makes her wines in the beautiful Banhoek Valley and source her grapes from various regions of the Western Cape, selecting vineyards suited in terms of climate and soil to the varietals she makes. Jocelyn looks for older vines which tell the story of the vintage through their well-established root systems, gnarled trunks and lower yields. Through her close relationships with the farmers, she continually work to gain an understanding of the nuances of each vineyard, an understanding she feels is pivotal to making good wine.
