If you are new to BLANKbottle and what Pieter Walser is up to, explaining it to you would be a lot like trying to map out the ever-moving sand dunes of the Sahara Desert. Pieter is somewhat of a mad genius, making approximately 47 different wines every year which is a staggering amount for a boutique producer.

The concept of BLANKbottle began in 2004, when Pieter was approached by a lady who wanted to buy anything but Shiraz from him. “I don’t drink Shiraz,” were her exact words. Pieter proceeded to pour her a glass of wine to try. She loved it and bought three cases. It was a straight Shiraz! This was the moment Pieter realised that people really do judge a book by its cover. And so, he removed the cultivar from all his wine labels, along with any preconceived ideas it might conjure.

Pieter is a master storyteller, and he will be joining us at Wine Menu in person to host an evening exploring a collection of these mysteriously amazing wines and the stories behind each bottle. This is your chance to hear the stories straight from the man behind the wines.

The line-up for the evening will only be confirmed closer to the time. What we can promise is a vibrant evening of exceptional wines, unexpected discoveries and storytelling.
