The Library Collection
by Waterford
A Masterclass presented by winemaker, Mark Le Roux
Tuesday 14 May 2019
Most of us are familiar with Waterford and have tasted at least one of their wines at some point. But the almost secret Library Collection is something many of us have never tasted or even heard of. Small parcels of special wines or wines that don’t fit into the well know Waterford Estate range are produced under this label.
This once-off exclusive tasting will be lead by winemaker Mark Le Roux.
Mark has all the characteristics of a great winemaker: a healthy dose of talent, a willingness to experiment, and a great deal of passion and energy. Add a bit of luck, a good mentor in the form of Waterford Estate Cellar Master Kevin Arnold, and a viticulturist that’s also his closest friend, and you’re left with an award-winning combo.
Named Young Winemaker of the Year in the 6th annual Tim Atkin South Africa Special Report 2017 –and known for producing Platter 5-star-rated wines such as The Jem – Mark is a rising star in the South African wine industry, and perfectly complements Waterford Estate’s pioneering approach to winemaking.
Mark says: “I also have a very open-minded, attention-to-detail approach to winemaking, with the desire to explore new grounds.” So let’s explore with him the hidden jems made in the Waterford Cellar.
