Berene Sauls grew up in the small village of Tesselaarsdal. Few people ever knew about this special place, until Berene used the name for her own wine brand. Nestled in the hills about 24 NE of Hemel-en-Aarde and 20 km S of Caledon, it officially falls under the Overberg demarcation.

Berene has been working at Hamilton Russell Vineyards since 2001 and over years her interest in wine lead her to start her very own brand in 2015. The focus remains on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and all grapes are sourced from the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge appelation. In 2019 Berene acquired 16Ha near Tesselaarsdal, which will be planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the near future.
