RAAR wines is a boutique cellar and custom crushing facility, born out of a co-operative cellar called Riebeek Valley Wine Company which was established in 1941. Uncommon, I know, but fabulous! Sheree Nothnagel is the Boutique Cellar Winemaker and also heads up the operations at the crushing facility.
“Our mission is to showcase the beautiful terroir of the Swartland. We work as naturally as possible using minimal intervention and wild yeast with very little new oak influence. We believe that wine is made from grapes and want the grapes to shine through instead of oak characters. We are lucky to work with a variety of old vine certified vineyards and since 2023 we also have some old vine vineyards that are certified organic.”
After studying at Elsenburg Agricultural College, various vintages working abroad in USA, Australia, France and New Zealand, and her experience as the winemaker and viticulturist at Wildehurst Wines (where her love for Swartland was ignited), we are sure to be in for a treat, and in very good hands!
Join us this Saturday to uncover this unknown gem.
