Graham Beck set out to prove that South Africa could make sparkling wine to rival the best in the world. More than 40 years later, that ambition has become one of the great success stories of our wine industry.
It all began in 1983, when Graham Beck bought Madeba Farm just outside Robertson. He recognised the potential of the region’s limestone-rich soils and warm days, followed by cool nights. These conditions are particularly well suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the two classic varieties used in Cap Classique.
The first Graham Beck Cap Classique was made in 1991, with founding Cellarmaster Pieter Ferreira helping to shape the style from the very beginning. Since then, the house has become known for its precision, consistency and fine bubbles, with a range that moves from fresh, approachable Brut to beautifully complex vintage and prestige cuvées.
There is plenty to discover in the world of Graham Beck, and what better way to spend a Saturday than with a glass of bubbles in hand?
