Vino pH started as a collaboration between two winemaking friends, Pauline and Hanneke, sourcing grapes and making interesting wines from the Swartland. We’ve seen Palomino, Barbera and Pinot Noir over the last few years, and now for the first time we have Hanneke with us to show us all of these and the new exciting wines they’ve been working on.

Hanneke, a Johannesburg native, is married to Thinus Krüger, the man behind FRAM wines. A few years ago they bought a farm, Wolfkloof, on Piket-Bo-Berg where they are now building a cellar and a home for Vino pH and FRAM. From this hilltop they are not too far away from Swartland in the South and a bit closer to the far northern vineyards of Olifantsrivier. Two of the main areas they source grapes from.

These down-to-earth, yet focused and hugely talented two humans are making exciting wines, and we are so happy to be able to share them with you.

If you don’t know Hanneke, let us introduce you:

Hanneke Krüger not only finished her BSc in Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch, she went on to complete her Masters in Madrid, learning Spanish and French along the way. A harvest in Bordeaux followed and a few years at De Morgenzon in Stellenbosch before the road lead her to the Swartland. Here Hanneke was the gentle force in the AA Badenhorst Family Cellar on Paardeberg for 7 years. Today, Hanneke is wife to Thinus, mother to Francéne and all round do-er of amazingly creative things.

Light snacks will be served from 5.30pm with the tasting to follow from 6pm.
