We have the privilege to host Anthony Hamilton Russell for a vertical tasting of Hamilton Russell Vineyards Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
50 years ago, in 1975, founder, Tim Hamilton Russell, purchased the undeveloped 170 hectare property, after an exhaustive search for the most southerly site on which to make South Africa’s top cool climate wines from a selection of noble varieties. Tim was a pioneer in the Hemel-en-Aarde, and with the help of Peter Finlayson, they were the first to plant vineyards in the region.
Hamilton Russell Vineyards – one of the most southerly wine Estates in Africa and one of the closest to the sea – pioneered viticulture and winemaking in this beautiful, cool, maritime appellation, just behind the old fishing village of Hermanus.
The Estate specialises in producing highly individual, terroir driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which are widely regarded as among the best in South Africa and among the finest in the New World.
Look forward to a hand-selected line-up of some of Anthony’s favourite vintages in a once off tasting at Wine Menu.
