Ridge Pinot Noir hails from a cool, eastern slope in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge with low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil.
Poise and elegance with spicy notes – characteristic of the cool slope’s low-vigour, stony, clay-rich soil.

As with the 2017 Pinot Noir harvest, the 2018 harvest was in line with the normal timing that we are used to in the Hemel-en-Aarde, with harvest kicking off in the first week of February. With extremely low yields and light bunches coupled with tiny berries, 2018 promises to be an excellent vintage, with slightly more perfume and opulence than 2017 – in all, wines with poise, elegance and layered concentration showcasing their sense of place.
“Hannes Storm has been focussing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Hemel and Aarde wine growing region of South Africa for some time now. He has achieved, well deserved, cult status for these Burgundian varieties not only in Hemel and Aarde but in South Africa as a whole. Each wine is a true reflection of the specific vineyard sites and expresses remarkable purity of fruit.
There are 3 Pinot Noirs and 2 Chardonnays this year, all made in rather small quantities. We are pleased to be able to sell these sought after wines to our discerning clients every year.”
