The Pink Moustache is Jurgen’s light red (call it rosé if you really want to, we don’t mind that much).
It is a blend of approximately 70% Swartland Syrah and 30% Swartland Cinsaut – the Syrah was pressed straight away into old 225L barrels and the Cinsaut spent 3 days fermenting with whole bunches before being pressed into old 225L barrels. Blended after 6 months and elevaged in stainless for a month before bottling.
Such an exciting wine to drink as it arrives just in time for summer!

Originally from the Eastern Cape, Intellego owner and winemaker Jurgen now calls the Swartland home and has worked with some of that area’s most celebrated names (Eben Sadie, Tom Lubbe, Craig Hawkins). Jurgen’s cartoonishly idiosyncratic labels are one of his hallmarks and Jurgen favours a natural approach – think organic farming and minimal intervention (no yeast, acid, enzymes or fining; limited sulphur and filtration) in the cellar. He is now the sole occupant of the Bosgaasfontein cellar on the Paardeberg which was once owned by Tom Lubbe (and where Tom made The Observatory wines at the beginning of the century).
Wines made by Jurgen always have an honesty and freshness about them. He makes joyous wines that excite and intrigue the drinker. We are very proud to be able to work with them.
