“Easier to drink than it is to spell” – Tim Atkin
The 2021 Sk’Windjiesvlei Tinta Barroca comes from a 7ha vineyard planted in 1962 when the Portuguese variety was gaining popularity in South Africa. This is a very important vineyard for the Swartland because of its age and the quality of the wine. Tinta Barocca has found a good home in the Swartland and grows there, providing a wonderful freshness of fruit and tannin in many blends
It has attractive wild aromas of blackberry, plum and earth. It is medium-bodied with delicious flavours of black fruits and white pepper and a fine web of tannin providing subtle grip and drive.

From three generations of winemaking stock, Adi was destined to be the best. Time in the Rhône, New Zealand and as winemaker at Rustenberg polished his talent before he (along with his cousin) brought his humble vineyard in the Paardeberg complete with gnarled vines and a run-down winery.
There are few young winemakers in South Africa that haven’t benefitted from his mentorship. This furry-faced whirlwind can be such a big personality – one of those ‘force of nature’ types – that people forget just how brilliant a winemaker he actually is. Adi makes wines to drink.
