SUMMARY:Saturday Sipping Session with Omnivine
DESCRIPTION:Omnivine\, a brand founded by Corlien Morris in 2022 was originally called “Hands”. An ode to each hand that touches the wine before the cork eventually is pulled. From people who work the vineyards\, to the magicians in the cellar and the people who eventually open the bottle. The idea was to celebrate these hands as they are all influential in you enjoying the wine. \nDue to unforeseen difficulties with names that could actually be put on the bottles\, the wines were eventually labeled under the Omnivine label. We are here to tell the story of the hands involved. \nOmnivine Cinsault 2021\nMade by Lukas Van Loggerenberg from the old vine Lotter Vineyard in Franschhoek. Lukas vilified one barrel to bottled under the Omnivine label and left it age for 8 months in neutral oak before bottling. So good old school winemaking! This wine is different from Lukas’s own Lotter Cinsail as his 2021 vintage was aged in concrete. Coincidentally\,  his following vintages were all aged in neutral oak too. \nOmnivine Verdelho 2022\nThis wine was a scenario of fate. At Cape Wine 2022\, Corlien sat down to taste through the Thistle & Weed wines with Stephanie Wiid. Stephanie was sourcing her Verdelho grapes from the Cavalli vineyard which she used in her Khakibos Blend. The 2022 vintage had a higher than usual yield of exceptional quality grapes\, and  Stephanie asked Corlien if she knew anyone who wanted to bottle some Verdelho\, as it would be a shame to sell the wine off in bulk. The next morning\, Stephanie brought in a sample of the wine in question\, which was tasted by Corlien and several other winemakers at the show. After 7 months in old oak\, 1000 litres of wine was made and the deal was signed in 10 minutes at the Cape Wine expo. And thus\, the Omnivine Verdelho was born. \nJoin us at Wine Menu as we sip through the Omnivine Wines
