DESCRIPTION:An focused evening for 12 guests only with David Trafford of De Trafford himself. \nWith the spotlight firmly on the young “cowboys” of the wine industry it is important to remember the original “mould breakers” of South African Wines. David and his wife Rita\, were not born into wine. Working as an architect he traded one craft for another in 1992 when they started crafting De Trafford wines on Mont Fleur\, the family farm\, high up on Upper Blaauwklippen\, in the heart of Helderberg\, Stellenbosch. \n“The thing that really interests me with wine is starting from scratch with the bare earth and designing a wine from the ground up.” – says David. With an acute appreciation of nature and sense of time and place\, David has put the emphasis of this small French domaine-like winery on serious red wines of great concentration and structure. He has done this in Stellenbosch and a little more than a decade ago again in Malgas\, where nobody else has followed his crazy idea yet. \n“About 2 decades ago it was interestingly the Chenin Blanc made by David that caught my attention most.
