SUMMARY:Burgundy - The Road less Traveled with Alex Dale
DESCRIPTION:Those who know Burgundy well says one can never know everything or understand it fully. Just as you think you got your head around the appellations\, you realise you have it all wrong. However\, one must keep trying and learning and maybe one day get to a comfortable point of knowledge. \nJoin us as we take a journey into the (un)known parts of this French wine region. To fall in love with Burgundy can be a very costly affair. The trick is to know somebody who knows a lot\, find the wines that are maybe a little less known\, but top of the quality list. \nWe know somebody who can help us on this journey of exploration and knowledge gathering.\nAlex Dale was raised in France\, did his first harvest in Burgundy at the age of 15 and opened the first specialist wine bar in the heart of Burgundy\, against everyone’s recommendation. It was of course a huge success. In 1994 Alex moved to Stellenbosch to embrace the “new Rainbow nation” and started Radford Dale wines. It’s been 25 years since Alex starting importing his much loved wines into South Africa\, so it’s safe to say\, he knows what he’s talking about. \nThe ethos: “We travel the world\, cultivating life-long friendships with inspirational\, artisanal producers to bring you a treasure trove of global fine wine.”  Wines are never chosen off a list or by what the press recommends. It’s about tasting\, walking the vineyards\, knowing the people and building relationship. The wines are for us drinkers of fine wine\, not for the collectors of labels and status. This resonates well with our philosophy at Wine Menu. \nDespite the crazy price increases in Burgundy of the past years\, there are still great value wines to be found\, if you know where to look.\nOn The Road Less Travelled….!!! \nWe have an amazing 12 wine line-up for this exclusive evening\nThe whites: \n\nDomaine Famille Pacquet Mâcon Villages Nos 5 Terroirs 2021 – R422\nDomaine Jacqueson Rully 2020 – R573\nDomaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Pernand-Vergelesses 2021 – R850\nDomaine Michel Bouzereau Meursault Les Grands Charron 2021 – R2225\nDomaine Jean Chartron Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes 2020 – R1910\n\nThe reds: \n\nDomaine Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py 2020 – R693\nDomaine René Bouvier Marsannay Champ Salomon 2020 – R950\nDomaine Taupenot-Merme St Romain Rouge 2020 – R747\nDomaine Eric de Suremin\, Château de Monthélie\, Monthélie 1er Cru Indéfiniment 2019 – R886\nMaison Remoissenet Santenay-Gravières 1er Cru 2016 – R1127\nDomaine Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru Les Bressandes 2016 – R987\nDomaine Pierre Gelin Fixin Clos Napoléon Monopole 2018 – R1519\n\nBooking is essential as seats are limited to 12 only.
